The Beauty of Michael Jackson’s Death: A Time to Rise to the Occasion & Be the Light for the World

michael_jackson_angel_by_angysetsugekka-d3h3fim(1)There is beauty in everything. Every single thing. Even in the “death” of someone we love. Even in the “death” of Michael Jackson.

Yes. Beauty.

Now you might be thinking, What? Has she gone mad? How could there be anything other then tremendous sadness – sorrow, actually – and a sense of deep, profound heart aching loss in losing the likes of Michael Jackson… someone who gave his whole life to love others and to heal the world in the process? How could that possibly be beautiful?

It is a valid question; one I have had myself at times. But what I have found in my deeply spiritual life journey – one in which my soul has constantly challenged and literally forced me to look beyond what I see – is that most of what is REAL in this Universe, is NOT what we see, much less what we believe to be true. Rather the true awakening gifts of the soul – our collective soul – lie within our ability to open our minds and hearts and be curious. To be curious as to what Spirit is really revealing to us, instead of being […]

We Are the World: Healing Our Hearts

ss-090707-MJ-funerals-42.grid-9x2

It’s the holiday season and even though it is supposed to be the season of “peace and good will toward men,” it sometimes seems like we, as human beings on this planet, are really struggling to make that our collective experience.

With all of the serious issues going on in the world today, I can’t help but observe and see all of the fear that is rising to the surface in the form of racism, radical religious extremism, violence, and name calling. In general, it is humanity gone awry and unfortunately, fear is the very thing that amplifies it all. Thus, creating more of what we fear while taking the energy and intensity to a whole other level of hysteria.

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” – Franklin D. Roosevelt

I also can’t help but think what Michael would say and do if he was still on this planet in his physical body. Would I be going out on a limb to say that Michael would be rising to the occasion to emphatically and passionately declare that it all needs to stop now? That we need to quit driving the […]

Michael & the Pope: We Are the World! The Time is Now!

michael pope

Wow. The energy on the planet seems pretty intense at the moment, especially with the Pope here in the U.S. The lunar eclipse with the Supermoon tonight seems to add to the mysticism and feeling that something truly is shifting – something big — and I certainly believe it is.

I know these times can feel a little disturbing and leave us to feel a bit uncomfortable and maybe even scared. This is when the dooms dayers come out with their fears and stir up paranoia in others. I find it interesting that Pope Francis – a man of profound love and humility, not to mention, a man with a vision that is expansive — is causing many to question his motives simply because he is talking about Oneness and Love for all of humanity. You would think that this would be a welcome blessing, yet, so many are afraid. And why?

Let’s ask this… why were people afraid of and threatened by Jesus? Why were many so critical and afraid of Michael? When someone asks us to expand beyond our safe, comfortable boxes that often define who we are, yet painfully […]

From Minnesota to Michael… & Back to Minnesota: Part I

slider2

Minnesota – my roots, my home, the place where it all began. From Minnesota to Michael…

Though it’s been 26 years since I left my beloved lake and family in Minnesota to follow my heart’s call to California, it never ceases to amaze me how, in June of every year, there seems to be this intense, primal and somewhat unconscious pull in my soul to go back home… to experience the energy of the lake and the land of my home state, as well as to connect with my family and friends. It is deep and it is important, I realize now. Especially this most recent annual summer trip.

To be honest, I didn’t think I would be heading back this summer for varying reasons, but it was a few weeks ago that I began looking at flights, just toying with the idea. Before I knew it, I bought a ticket (free on miles! Yay! That’s always a nice surprise) for July 22-July 28th. The impetus for my decision was a get together of some high school classmates, but what ended up presenting itself on this trip quickly showed me there was a much […]

After 33 Years, A Little Unicorn Lands at Michael’s Neverland

photo-2

“When you wish upon a star,
Makes no difference who you are…”

I’m not sure their worlds could’ve been any further apart… In 1981, Michael Jackson was on the verge of superstardom while a little baby horse was born into the toughest of circumstances far far away in a small town in Minnesota. In 1982, they both came into my life and my life would be never the same. And just a couple of days ago, all three of our lives came together for the first time in 33 years.

Even though I wasn’t aware of it at the time, looking back, 1982 was obviously a profound year for me. I was 13. I was so fortunate to grow up with two ponies ever since I was five, but now I was ready for my first “big” horse… someone of the likes of the Black Stallion from the famed books and movie at the time. Ironically, other than being a horse, Little Miss, didn’t resemble the Black Stallion in any way. Instead she was a neglected, malnourished yearling who’s mother had died when she was only three months old and was left out in a […]

Happy ReBirth Day in Heaven, Michael Joseph Jackson

“On Thursday, June 25, 2009, a day that will be forever remembered in the hearts of many, Michael Jackson died. His mission on Planet Earth was complete and it was time for him to go Home. As deeply saddened as I was that Michael was ‘gone,’ I felt a profound sense of peace knowing that he was finally free from the anguish and pain that had overshadowed so much of his life, and I felt grateful for all the light and love he had brought to our planet. The world had just lost one of its most beautiful angels.”

–Lisa Brisse, Chapter 19, Michael Jackson: The Man in Our Mirror, A Reflection of Our Collective Soul

All of yesterday, June 25th, I was seeing the posts about Michael and instead of feeling the urgency to write something, I allowed myself just to BE; no need to write until I felt the moment. Last night before bed, I decided to read Chapter 19 of my book…  “June 25th, 2009: Mission Completed–Michael Comes Home”. The above quote was the last paragraph.  Yes, it reminded me of the mixture of emotions…  being terribly sad by the “loss” of Michael’s physical […]

We May Not Agree But At Least Be Kind

photo-2

With the recent news of Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner as well as some personal experiences I have had within the MJ fan community lately, the message that keeps coming to me is: Let’s be kind to each other.

Yep, just be kind.

I am certain Michael would most wholeheartedly agree.

Being kind to our fellow human beings seems like it should be an unspoken understanding, not an idea that needs to be stated or enforced, rather because it just makes sense to the heart. But why is it so difficult? What are we so afraid of? Why does it seem that being loving, kind and respectful to another is such a challenge? And then wonder why war continues to reign on our planet and on varying levels?

Being kind to someone doesn’t mean you have to agree with their views, their perspectives, or live their way of life. With nearly 7 billion people on the planet, there is no way that all of us are ever going to agree about how we view the world, but that still doesn’t mean we can’t be kind, loving, and respectful to one another.

I have been disheartened at the comments, the ignorance, […]

We Spin! Kids Win! Healing the World Through Children

moonrise

“Children show me in their playful smiles the divine in everyone.” — Michael Jackson

Why is it that most everyone loves to be around children? Because they are pure in spirit and up until a certain age are not tainted by our world’s programmed beliefs and limitations. Because they often ooze such joy and allow us to see the world through their fresh eyes. Because they remind us of who we all once were. Because they are love.

Unfortunately as we get older, we tend to lose our childlike spirit as well as our ability to be spontaneous. Often we get stuck in our ways and lose our sense of curiosity and wonderment and all too often, life feels like a chore. I don’t believe life was meant to be lived this way. In fact, I believe losing that sense of innate joy and playfulness is just as much of a contributor to any ill health as eating an unhealthy diet, or not getting enough exercise or sleep; it all plays a part.

Michael Jackson: A Call to Honor Our Planet Earth

zemlya

“I respect the secrets and magic of nature… That’s why it makes me so angry when I see these things that are happening… That’s why I write these kinds of songs… to give some sense of awareness and awakening and hope to people… I love the planet.”

–Michael Jackson, This Is It

In light of the Earth Day and all of the celebrations and awareness this week about taking care of our precious planet, I am reminded of the journey Michael guided me on while writing my book, Michael Jackson: The Man in Our Mirror, A Reflection of Our Collective Soul.

One day in January of 2012, I was riding my bike in Santa Monica and all of a sudden, I just knew I had to go to Hawaii that month! Huh? Where is this coming from? I wasn’t even thinking of Hawaii (though one of my favorite places on the planet, by the way).

Long story short, I scheduled a trip to the Big Island (I just felt I needed to go there for some reason even though Kauai is my usual place to visit) […]

Michael Jackson: Divine Union & Oneness Through Music & Dance

My goal in life is to give to the world what I was lucky to receive: the ecstasy of divine union through my music and my dance.”

–Michael Jackson

As a lover of music of all kinds (thanks to my musician parents :) ) I have to say, one of the greatest things about being a Spinning®/Indoor Cycling Instructor is being able to experience music through movement. In a way, it’s like dancing on a bike. Teaching my Spinning classes for the last 18 years has been the perfect medium for me to not only educate people about their amazing, miraculous bodies (something we rarely honor), but music also serves as the powerful energetic conduit to truly make the connection between the body, mind and spirit… and in essence, to dance with Spirit and the Divine.

No one knew this connection more intimately than Michael Jackson. There is no question he was one of the most impactful messengers to visit our planet, using the universal language of music to touch the hearts and souls of many, but he also took it a step further. Through the medium of dance he showed us the rhythm of the Divine as well as […]
